Press Releases are definitely the most cost/time effective way to build natural search results and inbound links.
There are a few services to take a look at besides PRWeb.
Business Wire and PR Newswire are the industry leaders and about 95 % of publiclly traded companies use one or the other. Their low-cost competitor is MarketWire with web distributions starting at $60. Be warned that if your really want traditional media to even have a chance of seeing your release, use BW or PRN. Marketwire and PR Web do not have direct feeds into editorial Content Management Systems nor have direct feed. If you are just looking for web distribution, any of the services will do and each offer a variety of tracking tools.
