Dave Taylor, a corporate blogging expert and the guy who inspired this blog, has a great post on his belief that affiliates are the future of online sales.
The revelation comes from Daves recent trip to the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas, where Marketing Sherpa released its report revealing that affiliate marketing was a $6.5 billion dollar business in 2005. That is a lot of bucks!
It is good to see online industry experts giving affiliate marketing some well-deserved visibility. Hopefully not too much though, since I know most affiliates like to keep a low profile
Have a great week!

I am 0 for 30 with affiliate networks. All we get is spam complaints, and bad leads. I wish that we could get some of that traffic. Sounds like you guys are producing some good quality leads from it though.

Affiliates are a very important part of many companies’ online marketing strategies.
I am sorry to hear that you have had such a bad time with affiliate networks Marty – they can be hit an miss sometimes. You really need to be vigilant in screening affiliates and maintaining your affiliate list to insure traffic quality.

I tend to agree with Dave seeing that the number of online affiliates promoting others products is growing each day.
And millions more each year going online to sell their wares and those of companies with whom they affiliate.
Also, as an affiliate of InsureMe, I can attest to the fact that some affiliate programs do generate good leads and convert very well. Especially InsureMes affiliate plan.
My own conversion rates have been between 25-50% on leads directed to InsureMe.
Affiliate programs seem to be effective, but you have to keep searching and testing the waters to find the winners.
Keep at it Marty.
