So your new affiliate site is SEOd to the max and the PPC campaign is converting like Moonies in the Miami airport. When you are just about to buy that new M5 and you get an email:

All your base are belong to us … pay up ten grand or we will DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) you out of business.

Talk about bad Karma. Yep, it happens but the scam business, like all internet businesses, is maturing. The big time players are thinking lower price, higher volume. Now you can have your DDoS and other assorted threats for the paltry sum of $10.99. Yep, ten dollars and ninety nine cents. Now that capitalism at its best.
