What Do You Want to Know about Online Marketing?

After enjoying some time off, I'm back at InsureMe getting my presentation together for next week's HIGH TECC conference in Vail. (My palms are sweating just thinking of it.) Thus, I've got online marketing on the brain. So I thought I'd ask you:

What do you want to know about online marketing?

It could be something we haven't covered here, or maybe something we have that you'd just like clarified. Either way, if you've got online marketing questions, we've got plenty of answers.

Oh. And if you have any tips for public speaking, be sure to pass those along as well. :)

What is the best way to get qualified links to your site with out getting spammed in the process?

Great question, Ken!

I'd say one of the best ways to get links from qualified sites is to provide valuable content that's worth linking to. We've had great luck with some of blog posts, videos, as well as the insurance articles in our resource center.

I'll have James (our in-house search marketing guy) weigh in on this, but I think he'll agree that providing value is one of the best ways to get people to link to you. I'm sure he'll have other suggestions for you as well. :)

**Everyone, stay tuned to this thread! Remember that getting links to your site is one of the best ways to increase your search engine rankings!

Hi Ken,

Megan is right, having good link bait is key. If you can provide valuable content to your market you will get the link love. But being 100% honest, creating link worthy content is very hard.

If you are looking for some quick links to get you started, you can "rent" links from other sites. This method can be effective but is risky in the long term since Google recently condemned link buying/renting.

On a grassroots level, the easiest way to get links is to figure out all the people you know personally who have web sites and then beg them like crazy to link to you. Maybe it is your buddy Stan, or the organization you belong to, or you’re chamber of commerce. Think hard, be ruthless and you might just get some quality links for free.

Oh yeah, and if you want at least one good link and you want to support a good cause, read this blog post I did a week or two ago - http://www.insuremeblog.com/affiliate/2007/06/kivaorg_make_loans_give_hope_g_1.html
